Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE: MRK) reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $1.12 billion, or 38 cents per share, compared with $1.73 billion, or 56 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue fell 4 percent to $11.03 billion.

In addition, the pharmaceutical company said that worldwide sales of Januvia, a Type 2 diabetes medication, declined 1 percent to $1.4 billion in the quarter.

Shares of Merck fell 2.34 percent to $45.45.

Burger King Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: BKW) reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $68.2 million, or 19 cents per share, compared with earnings of $6.6 million, or 2 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding items, earnings came in at 23 cents per share. Revenue fell to $275.1 million, from $455.7 million.

Shares of Burger King Worldwide rose 4.50 percent to $20.65 in morning trading.
